Leader Training
First of all - THANK YOU for volunteering to help make our scouts better! Our Scouts could not succeed without your help!
It's critically important to provide our Scouts with well-trained leaders. This ensures both the safety and success of our Scouts. Who knows, you, our fearless cub leader, may even learn a thing or two yourself!
Youth Protection (YPT)
Youth Protection Training MUST be completed every two years for all registered BSA leaders (professionals and volunteers both). Check your current status (and renew if necessary) at https://my.scouting.org/tools/my-training/ypt-training.
Position-Specific Training
Earn the coveted "Trained" arm sleeve patch by completing Position-Specific training (listed for your position at https://training.scouting.org/programs/1) AND completing BALOO training (details below).
BALOO Training
Required for the "Trained" arm sleeve patch, and also required by at least one leader at every overnight event, Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) covers how to execute a safe and successful outdoor Cub Scout program. This training is available for any registered Cub Scout leader. Find upcoming BALOO trainings at https://scoutingevent.com/571, then click the magnifying glass and search for BALOO.
Wood Badge
Done all that other training? Looking to take the next step? Wood Badge is an advanced, national leadership course open only to Scouting volunteers and professionals. This course will help you better understand how all the Scouting programs tie together. It will provide you with many useful leadership tools to help enable our youth to have the best possible Scouting experience. There is no better time to attend a Wood Badge course and make a difference in your unit than when you are a Cub Scout Leader. If you're interested in learning about, or taking, Wood Badge, ask in our Slack; a couple of us have taken it and can help you decide and prepare for the course!
